Windows 8

Windows 8 is Microsoft's upcoming operating system that is expected to be released in the Fall of 2012. Windows 8 has a lot in common with Windows Phone 7. Both start screens use live tiles to display updated information from the user's favorite apps. Windows 8 has three types of screens: the hub page, section pages, and detailed pages. The hub page is similar to the Windows Phone panorama in that it displays content in a rich, horizontally panning view and is used to show what's new and available. In section pages, the content can be displayed in any form, and each element of content links to a details page.

Windows Phone

Windows Phone 7 (WP) is Microsoft's latest smartphone operating system. The UI is designed to encourage users to have a rich experience with their phone. There are three types of WP screens: panoramas, pivots, and detailed views. The panorama is generally used as a home screen that aggregates and summarizes the content of pivot and detail screens. Pivot views allow the user to view information that is conceptually related, such as music filtered by genres, artists, and albums. Both panoramas and pivot screens use lateral swipes to navigate between different views. Similar to Windows 8, WP has an app bar at the bottom of the screen that provide users with functionality related to that particular view, such as "refresh", "pin to start", and "share".

Xbox

Xbox

In a new update, the Xbox interface encompasses Metro Style. Similar to Windows Phone 7 and the upcoming launch of Windows 8, Xbox engages users with "active" tiles to create a dynamic experience. With horizontal scrolling and an emphasis on content and typography, Xbox is a member of the Metro Style family.
